Who We Are
About the Refund

What is the ERC and how can it help my Church?

The Employee Retention Credit (ERC) is an IRS tax credit issued to help businesses and nonprofits (ex: churches) retain their employees during the pandemic. Think: a stimulus check for your qualifying church, refunding your payroll costs.

How can my church qualify?

Your church may qualify if:

1) Your operations were fully or partially suspended by a government order OR
2) You experienced a significant decline in revenue/tithing (determined on a quarter by quarter basis).

You do not have to satisfy both tests.
The maximum refund per employee can be $26,000!

Common questions
about the refund

You're not alone! Here are the most common questions we receive from churches about the refund.

All Questions

You do not ever have to pay the refund back. This credit comes in the form of a check which refunds your business for payroll expenses.

Churches that claimed PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) loans may still be eligible! This is a common misconception about the ERC.

This is generally gross wages plus employer health insurance costs.
